Oregon's
Historic Covered Bridges
By... Hand Made Videos |
At
one time Oregon had more than 450 covered bridges spanning it's many rivers,
streams and creeks. Over the years the majority of these structures have
been destroyed by various floods, fires and the dismantling of spans that
had become too weak from age. |

With
only a fraction of those covered bridges remaining in the state, efforts
are being made to save what is left. Several of the old spans have been
relocated to serve as historic reminders and provide for pedestrian traffic
in various communities.
Oregon
currently has the largest number of covered bridges on the west side of
the Mississippi River and the 5th largest collection in the nation.
